FEBRUARY 2013

  -->
2012 was a successful year for the community and we plan to make 2013 even better.

Plans at this stage are for our usual 2 market days (3rd March & 27th October) and  garage sale on the 11th May.

We are in the process of having final plans drawn up for a major extension to the hall with a view to pursuing funding for the proposal.

We are also pursuing the possibility of leasing the crown land to the south of the current cleared land leading down to the river from the hall.

With the new year comes subscription renewals.  Subscriptions are an important part of our funding to meet our overheads each year.  Our annual insurance for the hall and grounds is approaching $3,000 and we must find funds to cover this before we can put our fundraising efforts to hall maintenance & improvements.  Please help by responding early.  Renewal form on page 4.

You will have noticed we now have a new logo courtesy of Alison O’Keefe.

May we all put in the effort to continue maintaining the hall as the focal point of our community.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who took part in the ‘Deviot to Dunalley’ Bushfire Appeal on the 18 and 19 January.
The generosity of stallholders, cake makers, customers and guests was overwhelming.

Thanks to many helping hands, the kind donations of all busy gardeners and bakers and the participating community we were able to raise $1580!!!!!!

The DCA added $500 to this and the Folk concert on Friday night raised $700.

All this money went directly to the Dunalley Tasman Neighbourhood House. They are organizing a program to help residents to revegetate their gardens. The money will allow them to buy plants, tools, seeds and other material. So every cent will go directly to the people, who are affected by the fire.
Did you enjoy the great Community spirit?!

Working Bee Saturday & Sunday 4th & 5th August
You may have heard we are participating in the West Tamar Arts Group celebration of halls in the West Tamar
Region in October.  Part of the deal is Dulux has donated paint to all of the halls to spruce them up for the event.
We applied for paint & accessories to paint the inside of the hall and we plan to do this on the first weekend in
August.  We will need 6-8 volunteers on Saturday to clean, patch & sand the ceiling & half the walls and on Sunday
we will need the same number to apply 2 coats.  If you can commit yourself to helping with this exercise, please
let me know.
 I look forward to an overwhelming response!!
